I don’t want realtime protection of any sort. I just wnt the program to start when I run it, and not remain in memory or have any processes when I am doing other things.

I can’t seem to find a way to turn off my firewall on the Norton antivirus thing. there is no option to turn it off. All of my other virus protector systems in the past have allowed me to have the option. Do any of you know how to turn off the firewall ?

If so then can you tell me which ones i can use that are good for my computer? Also if they are free or not? Are antivirus and spyware two different things, because i know that if you have two of the same type of protection software on your computer it causes problems. Could you please recommend some? Thanks a bunch to everyone who answers!
