Is seems that antivirus programs are looking for specific modules that are installed by a program and that do havoc in the background. What if someone wrote a simple program and called it Tic-Tac-Toe. The only thing the program did was to delete all files in the system. Could an antivirus program detect it? How would it recognize a malicious delete from a normal delete?
Note that I just made up the name. It could be anything. The program could be recompiled with a million different names. The only detection method would be finding code for the deletion of files not created by the program but in that case how to file shredders work?
