Say it had viruses quarantined or something, would it release those viruses? I plan on re-installing it shortly after, but I’d like to know the risk factor here.

I would recommend deleting all viruses stored in quarantine before doing so.

The quarantined files prior to uninstalling avg they can become dangerous.
