do i have to clean my computer of virus before intalling a new antivirus?

i have an older version of norton and my computer aparently is infected, because when i use internet i have trouble. So i bought another antivirus 2008 , i want to know if the new program will clean up whatever virus im infected with automatically when i install it or I have to clean it up first and then install it.

It’s sure best to. Go to and run their online scan. Then go to TrendMicro and run THEIR online scan. Between the two, you should catch and clean everything.
