I would have to divide them between free and paid. I will not be countring trial AV because those arent permanent. AV and AS links are down there

Paid I would have to say Kaspersky, rated 99.62% detection rate by a test which I will link in source. Its a very good virus scanner, very good detection rate, friendly interface, however its very expensive and you should get it if only if its worth it.. Or you can get a Keygen and just get it for free (You didn’t hear it from me).

I dont know any paid Antispy which is good as free ones. But people will say MacAffe and Norton, those guys are dead wrong, trust me. I used Norton before and it will lag your computer and crush it to peices while trying to protect it.

Free- I would have to say its a toss up between AVG and Avast, the two leading free AV.

AVG has a easy interface, simple. But has less options compare to Avast and it doesn’t scan as thorough. But. (NOTE THAT AVG WILL BE CANCELING IT’S FREE OFFER, THIS SEGMENT IS SEMI INVALID SO USE IT WHILE IT LAST.. or)
Avast! has more complicated interface, more options and a very slow yet thorough scan. I used both and I’m leaning towards Avast because you can change the layouts and it looks cooler (excuse my geekyness hehe..)

For antispy, I got 2 free ones you can use in combo.
One is Ad-Aware, I’m sure if you been around a lot you’ll know this brand, one of the best brand out there.. There is a paid and a free version of it and free is sufficient enough.
Other is Spybot Search and Destory, also very good. Both detect amazingly and are very easy to use.
