What is the best antivirus (and preferably free) right now?

Please tell me valuable sources and I really need it. If it would make my computer slower, dont even mention it because my computer is slow enough. Also, if you can tell me how to make a computer faster, you will get a better chance of getting best answer.

Right I’ve got a nice firewall and some antispyware but just wondering whether an online anti service provider is better than one you buy from a shop.

I was thinking about purchasing webroot spyware for my computer, but theres just so many different types i just dont know where to begin. So to your knowledge, whats the best one out there that i can buy from bestbuy or a different retailer or cable company provider if so.
